A Fully Featured Open Fit Now Available in the Entry Level Category

November 8, 2005 – Kitchener, ON - Unitron Hearing Australia announced today the extension of its fully-featured, open fitting product families. Offering the most extensive choice of open fit products from entry to mid-level, Unitron Hearing puts the advantages of an open fit within reach of even more clients.

First introduced in the Conversa.NT™ product family, the ultra-small, open fit Moda™ has experienced great success and popularity with hearing aid wearers desiring a discreet, comfortable fit. Conversa.NT is the fully-featured, mid-level hearing instrument for clients who communicate in diverse, challenging listening situations.

Beginning in November 2005, a fully featured open fit will be available in the entry level category with Unison 6. Unison™ 6 is a high-value, feature-rich hearing instrument designed for active clients.

"Bringing our open fit products to the entry level category ensures more people with hearing loss can experience the advantages of an open fit," said Robert Walesa, Director of Product Marketing. "Unison’s high-value open fit products are very affordable, comfortable and natural sounding, improving customer acceptance. Our open fit hearing instruments are also a tremendous opportunity for hearing professionals to offer solutions to a new segment of clients."

Open Fit Hearing Instruments

Open Fitting Styles: Unitron Hearing’s slim tube, open
fitting BTEs includes both the Moda 10A BTE and the 13 BTE without volume control.

The choice of slim tubes or traditional earmolds allows hearing professionals to adapt Unitron Hearing’s open fit instruments to clients’ changing listening needs. Slim tubes are ideal for clients with high frequency and mild to moderate hearing losses or new wearers who have previously resisted a BTE. Standard earmold fittings provide more low frequency gain or more overall gain if required. The choice also provides flexibility allowing wearers to upgrade from slim tubing to earmolds if their listening needs change.

In addition, two stylish BTE options are available. The ultra-small, discreet Moda 10A BTE is very light-weight and inconspicuous, while the 13 BTE offers longer battery life and direct audio input.

Fast, Precise Fittings

User-friendly Unifit™ fitting software addresses the specific concerns of open fittings. Unifit automatically pre-configures settings, including high frequency correction, to accommodate Conversa.NT and Unison open fittings ensuring a "quick fit." The directional roll-off adjustment tool permits fine tuning of the low frequency response when directional microphones are activated. In addition, clients’ audiogram data can be displayed in real ear view to more accurately simulate the real ear performance of the hearing aids.

Hearing professionals can also ensure quick client satisfaction with in-clinic slim tubes and domes that permit same-day fittings. The slim tubes eliminate the need for custom earmolds and impressions, allowing more time for individual counseling.

Conversa.NT 10A Moda is currently available worldwide. Unison 6 open fit (10A Moda and 13 BTE with no VC) and Conversa.NT (13 BTE with no VC) will be available in November 2005. Contact your local sales representative for availability in your market.
